Japanese Mini Truck Info, F.A.Q.'s and Specifications

ARE THEY NEW OR USED?
All Mini Trucks regardless of intended use must be at least 15 years old to the month before they are able to be imported into Canada.

We only import the best quality Japanese trucks as Japan has a favorable climate and very stringent inspection system which ensures a great supply of quality used trucks. It is not uncommon for a 15 year old Japanese truck to be in better shape than a 4 year old Canadian Vehicle!

ARE THEY RIGHT OR LEFT HAND DRIVE?

All Japanese Mini Trucks are RIGHT-HAND DRIVE.  Any left-hand drive trucks you see are either from other markets such as China or have been converted to left-hand drive.

We ONLY offer original condition right hand drive Japanese Mini Trucks

ARE THEY STREET LEGAL IN CANADA?

Yes and No... In Quebec for example, right-hand drive trucks can only be registered for Off-Road Use in most cases unless they are 25 years old. In all other Provinces and Territories, these right-hand drive trucks can be registered for on-road use granted that they can meet the current Provincial Safety  Standards.  Depending on your Province this may mean modifying the headlights, tail-lights or more to meet standards.

We always recommend checking with your local Provincial Inspection Facility to get specific info on the requirements of registering a right hand drive vehicle.

ARE THEY AVAILABLE IN AUTOMATIC?

Automatic transmissions are readily available in most mini truck brands.

HOWEVER they are not well suited for off-road use. This is due to the fact that they are generally only a 3 or 4 speed transmission with no available low range transfer case.  1st gear is also quite high, this means they will lack the power to turn over-sized tires or tackle off-road terrain.

HOW BIG ARE THE CABS? WILL I FIT?

There is no exact size cut-off here, as well different makes and years of truck will fit differently. Here is a general guideline: If you are under 6' tall and of average build you should fit comfortably in the cab of most mini trucks. The issue is more with legroom and distance to the steering wheel, so if you have longer legs or a husky build you may start to get pretty cramped over 6' tall. There is a lot of headroom however as we have seen 6'4" guys with shorter legs shoehorn into the drivers seat.
